I’ve been reading Andy Bailey’s blog since late summer. A couple of months back, he wrote a plugin called CommentLuv that takes “do_follow” to a whole new level.
Not only does it remove “rel=NoFollow”, but in addition it actually searches the feed of commentors and makes a link to their most recent post.
I’ve seen it in action several times myself, through comments I’ve left on various blogs. If you haven’t seen it yet, test it out by leaving a few comments on some of my posts. (lol just make sure your own latest post has a good title)
If you like the way it works, you might even consider grabbing it for your own blog.
Keep havin FuN!
Todd

Hi Don,
To be honest, I’m not so sure that “results” will necessarily be quantifiable. Installed this plugin mainly because it seems like a good way to encourage reader interaction … which is what I really want this blog to be about over the long term.
The one area where I am a little cautious is the possibility of increased “subtle” comment spam. I may actually write a comments policy page, and explain that I will probably be a little quicker to delete some otherwise innocuous looking “great post” type comments .. depending on where their links lead. (ie, “great post” is fine if it helps me, or you, find a useful new blog)

thanks for the link to commentluv!
you can use this link to download 0.996 version which is a little faster and adds the option for the comment author to not parse for their last blog post.
let me know if you have any issues with it, I am always trying to improve it..

This is a great idea. I wish my blogspot could have it. All blogs should have this plugin.
Another great one is so commentors can edit their comments for a few minutes after pressing the submit button - good for fixing spelling errors.

@Andy - thanks for the link. I’ll download it this weekend when I have a bit more time.
@Coaster - time to move to wordpress?

Thanks for the tip about the plug-in. I believe the “do follow” movement is a good thing. Time will tell.

Thanks for supporting the do follow movement… I think with good antispam measures in place, the idea of nofollow will fade fast.

Hi there Tod.
I am wondering about the do-follow thing. I think it’s great but is it not making one’s blog into a link-farm-thing? I mean I want to add CommentLuv AND KeywordeLuv to my blog. Do you think that would be too much? Thanks.
Gert
