Bellows is a great place to camp; it's operated by the military so MPS are just a phone call away if things are getting out of hand or if your car gets stuck in the sand. As for Boogie Boarding Bellows is strictly for the beginner in my book. Makapuu; Sandys; and Panics are much more fun for more experienced riders.

Bellows was a prime destination when I was in the Air Force from 1985-1988 at Hickam. We'd go up and stay in the cabins for like $25 a night - on the beach and bbq and body board all day. What a time that was. There is camping by tent on the non-military side if you want to chance-um. I had good experiences there. Here in Thailand are the same tiny pine cone type seeds from the trees at Bellows that get stuck to your feet as you walk through the sand - brought back awesome memories of this place! If you go to sleep over or just stay short time - dont forget the barbeque and some shrimp, ahi poke and other kine grinds! Aloooooohaa...

I have lived in Hawaii 5 years and I really like Bellows beach. Actually it is very similar to Kailua but the difference is that Bellows is not so crowded. I recommend it to everyone who want to have a day just chilling on the beach. Bellows is often overlooked by tourists and residents.

Boogie boards are fun. The only place I've used one is off Vancouver Island, Canada at Long Beach. I'm pretty sure the water is a lot warmer at Bellows. Another spot on my 'to visit' list!

I've lived in Hawaii all my life and have never gone to Bellows. I don't head out to the beach much when I'm over on Oahu. Many of my friends lover Bellows though, so I guess I should add it to my to-do list. Great pics!

Todd, I used to work for Hawaii.com for a year or two, so I visited Oahu about 6 times and I really miss it.

I golfed on Koo'lau, or something like that...

I always meant to snorkel on that big bay east of Waikiki, but never got to it. Did do a catamaran out past Diamond Head though, that was fantastic!
